My current papercut adventure started with trees. There was a red oak tree in my parents backyard that I wanted capture as an artwork for perpetuity. It was not meant to be a drawing or a painting. I wanted to express the essence of this tree as a silhouette at dusk and somehow stumbled upon papercutting as an art form. For a long time, I just made single layer cuts of trees that I admired in my neighborhood or local parks. They were mostly trees with no leaves, in the dead of winter. Eventually, more layers were added to create artwork of for all seasons. Autumn being my favorite. These are some examples still in my possession.
